Electronics Repair Technician
Type: Permanent
Salary: Up to £37,000 per annum, depending on experience
Location: Uxbridge area
Working pattern: On-site workshop role
Our client is looking for an experienced Electronics Repair Technician to join a busy technical operation in the Uxbridge area.
This is a hands-on repair role working with professional audio visual and electronic equipment, so previous experience within the AV industry would be highly advantageous. We would be particularly interested in hearing from candidates who have repaired professional sound, video, lighting or related technical equipment.
Equally important is genuine component-level electronics experience. This is a role for somebody who enjoys diagnosing faults and repairing equipment properly rather than simply replacing complete units.
The role
You will investigate faults, carry out repairs and test equipment before it is returned to use.
Your work will include diagnosing electrical and electronic problems, carrying out component-level repairs and replacing defective parts where necessary.
You will use electronic test equipment to support fault finding and carry out soldering and de-soldering across conventional and surface-mount components.
Alongside the repair work, you will help maintain accurate technical records, support equipment quality checks and identify recurring faults or reliability issues.
You may also assist with replacement parts, evaluate unfamiliar equipment and support colleagues with more unusual technical problems.
What we are looking for
Previous practical electronics repair experience is essential, including confidence fault finding at component level.
Experience repairing professional audio visual equipment is strongly preferred. This could have been gained working with professional audio, video, lighting, broadcast, live events or production equipment.
Candidates from another technically demanding electronics repair environment may also be considered where they can demonstrate strong transferable skills.
You should be confident with:
- Analogue and digital electronic fault finding
- Component-level repair
- Soldering and de-soldering
- Surface-mount and through-hole components
- Using multimeters, oscilloscopes and similar electronic test equipment
- Safe dismantling, inspection and reassembly of technical equipment
- Recording repair information accurately
A qualification in electronics, electrical engineering or a related technical discipline is required.
Good mechanical ability and basic computer skills are also important.
This could suit an Electronics Repair Technician, AV Repair Technician, Electronics Technician, Bench Technician or Service Technician looking for a varied role working with professional technical equipment.
