Cleaning Supervisor – Afternoon/Evening Shift

Salary: £30,771
Hours: Monday to Friday, 12:00pm – 8:00pm (37.5 hours per week)

Are you an experienced Cleaning Supervisor who leads from the front and takes pride in keeping standards consistently high?
We’re recruiting for a respected local organisation in the education sector that needs a proactive and practical individual to oversee and support their afternoon/evening cleaning team.
This is a hands-on, all-year-round permanent role, ideal for someone who wants to combine leadership with practical cleaning work. If you've worked in a cleaning, housekeeping or facilities setting and enjoy motivating a small team, this is a fantastic next step.
About the Role: As the Cleaning Supervisor, you’ll ensure the daily cleaning schedule runs like clockwork. From allocating duties and overseeing standards to jumping in and helping with tasks yourself, you’ll be central to creating a clean, safe and welcoming environment across the site.
Duties will include:
– Organising and distributing daily/weekly cleaning tasks fairly across the team
– Supporting the team on shift and setting a positive example through your own work
– Ensuring service levels are consistently met and maintaining quality standards
– Monitoring cleaning supplies and logging hazardous materials in line with COSHH
– Managing team records (attendance, 1-1s, appraisals) in line with internal procedures
– Liaising with site teams regarding events or changes to cleaning requirements
– Overseeing the condition of cleaning equipment and reporting maintenance needs
– Helping induct new starters and keeping training records up to date
The ideal person will have:
– Previous supervisory experience in a cleaning, housekeeping or facilities setting
– An organised, fair and practical leadership style
– Working knowledge of COSHH and manual handling procedures
– Confidence using basic IT (email, logging systems, spreadsheets)
– A reliable, motivated and detail-conscious approach
– Background in education, healthcare, hospitality or commercial environments welcomed
Additional info:
– A DBS check will be required (the employer will support this if not already held)
– Occasional flexibility may be needed for one-off evening events or shift cover
