When we were recruiting a new Account Executive earlier this year, we engaged the services of three recruitment agents, including Uxbridge Employment, as well as a recognised insurance industry specialist. It quickly became apparent from the feedback of all three agents that there was a dearth of available candidates in the market who fulfilled our brief. However, Uxbridge Employment were the only one of the three agents who adopted a pro-active approach and engaged with us to try and identify suitable candidates who, whilst not having the specific insurance industry experience we ideally wanted, might have experience and skills that could conceivably be transferred to an insurance role. In contrast, the insurance ‘specialists’ provided us with a succession of poorly prepared CVs, none of which were of particular interest. Following our discussions, Uxbridge Employment then provided us with a number of CVs for candidates who fulfilled our revised brief and not only did we in turn find a suitable candidate who we subsequently employed (and to date has proved an excellent addition to our team), we were also suitably impressed by another candidate they provided that we ultimately created a new role and employed them as well! Whilst we are not recruiting on a regular basis, we have engaged the services of Uxbridge Employment on a number of occasions over the years and have always found them to be both conscientious and diligent in their approach with a focus on quality over quantity of candidate and finding the right person. This is of fundamental importance given that recruiting staff is an extremely time consuming process and we only want to see viable, realistic candidates. Based on our experience earlier in the year, as and when we next have a vacancy where we require the assistance of a recruitment agent, my first call will be to Uxbridge Employment and not the supposed insurance specialists....
