Part Time Accounts Assistant
Location: Amersham
Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 (pro rata)
Hours: Monday to Thursday, 9.30am – 2.30pm
Looking for a part-time accounts position that fits around school runs and family commitments? We’re working with a lovely small business in the Amersham area who are seeking a hands-on Accounts Assistant to support their busy finance function.
You’ll be joining a tight-knit team of two, working closely with the Senior Accounts Person to help manage the day-to-day accounting tasks. This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in finance, ideally including payroll, who enjoys being part of a collaborative and down-to-earth environment.
About the Role: This is a varied accounts role in a small, friendly business, where no two days are quite the same. From checking timesheets and inputting payroll data to supporting purchase ledger and ordering materials – your attention to detail and willingness to pitch in will make a big difference.
Key responsibilities include:
– Preparing weekly payroll for approx. 100 staff (Pegasus Opera system)
– Verifying hours and inputting manual timesheets
– Sales ledger cash postings
– Reconciling purchase ledger accounts
– Handling staff expenses
– Matching invoices and raising purchase orders
– Supporting with cash book entries
– Logging holidays and sickness records
– Ordering materials and consumables for engineers
– General accounts admin and filing tasks
What we’re looking for:
– Previous experience in an accounts role (SME background desirable)
– Ideally some knowledge of payroll processing (training provided if not)
– A flexible, hands-on approach with a strong eye for detail
– Comfortable supporting a wide range of finance-related admin tasks
– Proactive and reliable with a team-focused mindset
– A car driver is essential due to office location
– Willingness to provide full-time cover during colleague holidays
Start date: ASAP – ideally before Christmas if available!
